John Maulella began his career as a Customs Inspector at JFK airport in 1992. John was responsible for numerous significant seizures and arrests, including narcotics, money laundering, and merchandise smuggling. Post 9/11, he transferred to CBP’s National Targeting Center in Reston, Virginia., and led the Training Unit responsible for training hundreds of CBP and OGA personnel in anti-terrorism targeting. John has led numerous high impact Office of Field Operations (OFO) teams at the Deputy Director and the Director level, including Traveler Entry Programs and External Engagements and Initiatives, responsible for multi-million-dollar programs directly impacting over a third of a billion international travelers per year, as well as the travel and trade industries.
John is currently a Senior Portfolio Manager with the Innovation Team (INVNT) under the Office of the Commissioner and oversees the portfolios for both OFO and the Office of Trade.
