Director Ocheltree is a 20-year veteran of the United States Border Patrol (USBP). He started his career in San Diego in 2002. In addition to his field duties as a line agent, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Firearms Instructor, and USBP Academy instructor. In 2007 Director Ocheltree promoted into a first line supervisory role where he had oversight over patrol group operations and intelligence and strategic planning functions at the station level.
In 2016, Director Ocheltree was promoted to second line supervision as the program manager of the San Diego Sector Strategic Planning Branch where he had oversight of strategic planning and emergency management activities for the San Diego Region. In 2018, Director Ocheltree promoted to USBP Headquarters in Washington DC where he worked in operational requirements and innovation.
In 2020, Director Ocheltree accepted a position with the CBP Innovation Team, initially as a program manager, then as the Deputy Director, and currently as the Director. The CBP Innovation Team is located in CBP’s Office of the Commissioner and identifies, adapts, and delivers innovative commercial technology solutions in operationally relevant quantities to keep front-line personnel safer and more effective— with absolute focus on integrating solutions into the CBP enterprise while transitioning them to CBP programs of record and business owners.
