Currently, Dr. Alston-Meggett serves as the Deputy CIO for the high performing USSS Office of the Chief Information Officer. In this role, she leads a diverse and dynamic team of 250 information technology professionals for the most elite law enforcement agency in the world.
Most recently, she served as the Senior Advisor and Chief of Customer Relations for DHS Office of Biometric Identity Management. Prior to that, she served as the Executive Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Intelligence. In these roles, she advised senior leaders on effective delivery of technology and innovation to our federal and international partners in support of national security and public safety.
Strategy, Policy and Doctrine Division Chief (Oct ’15 – Sep ’16) DOD/USCC/Joint Forces Headquarters DODIN, Ft. Meade, MD: Developed strategies to secure the Department of Defense Information Networks, authored doctrine to promote innovation in network defense, and identified gaps in policy to better secure our nation from cyber-attacks.
Operations Planning Team Lead (Oct ’14 – Oct ’15) DOD/USCC, JFHQ DODIN, Ft. Meade, MD: Led 40-person team made of Military (O3-O5), Government Civilians (GS12-14) and Contractors tasked with threat characterization, analysis, and evaluation to present options to US Cyber Command leadership regarding deployment of a Crisis Action Planning (CAP) or Operations Planning Team (OPT). In this role, Dr. Alston-Meggett led cyberspace operations and intelligence planning for incident response and emerging threats for 55 Combatant Commands, Services, Agencies and Functional Activities.
Deputy Chief, Process Improvement Office (Sep ’12 – Sep ‘14) DOD/Defense Information Systems Agency, Ft. Meade, MD: Led requirements gathering team for newly commissioned e-commerce-like ordering system called DISA Direct Storefront (DDSF) for all telecommunications services and capabilities offered by DISA. Developed workflows for 70+ IT services. Provided enterprise solutions and innovation to over 4M users. Authored several process improvement guides for a myriad of IT functions and cybersecurity protocols.
DISN Change and Configuration Manager (Sep ’10 – Aug ‘12) DOD/Defense Information Systems Agency, Ft. Meade, MD: Responsible for controlling, monitoring, and documenting configuration changes to the DISN. Developed agency-wide initiatives and authored DISA’s Program and Change Management Handbook. Created and led DISA’s inaugural executive-level Enterprise Architecture Review Board.
