Craig Basham serves as the Deputy Executive Director for the Information Technology Operations (ITOPS) Directorate within the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
In his role, he is responsible for providing secure and reliable Information Technology support to the Management Directorate. This includes over 12,000 personnel at over 30 major sites across the National Capital Region and multiple small offices across the country. His division also provides direct communications support for travel to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary.
Prior to joining the OCIO executive leadership team, Mr. Basham served as the Division Chief within ITOPS and worked for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in both the U.S. Border Patrol and Office of Information and Technology. In those
positions, he helped build strategic alliances with federal agencies, state and local governments, private sector organizations, foreign governments, and international organizations to apply best practices to organizational challenges.
Mr. Basham began his federal service in the U.S. Army as a soldier, followed by serving as a Department of Defense
Civilian in Germany.
Mr. Basham holds a Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland University College. He is also a graduate of the
Harvard University Senior Executive Fellows and the National Defense University Chief Information Officer certifications.
